RB Global Technical Director Departs for Monaco

Red Bull Global Technical Director Paul Mitchell has departed the organization to join as AS Monaco as the team’s Sporting Director. The loss follows a series of departures for Red Bull which include Ralf Rangnick who will be joining AC Milan shortly.

Mitchell joined Red Bull in 2018 as the team’s Head of Recruitment and Development. In a short time, he worked his way up to Technical Director, overseeing not just RB Lepzig but also Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls and RB Bragantino. This move will give the former Wigan Athletic player a more involved role with a Monaco team that is looking to revamp themselves after years of mediocrity.

“I would like to thank Red Bull for making his appointment possible,” said AS Monaco team President Oleg Petrov. “Paul will bring his skills in talent identification, recruitment and development of our players from the academy to the first team. Paul will be in charge of the sporting aspects of AS Monaco and I am convinced that his arrival will significantly strengthen our project.”

Who will replace Mitchell remains to be seen. However, it will be a significantly different mindset now with the departure of both Mitchell and Rangnick. Currently Oliver Mintzlaff has moved from the CEO of RB Leipzig back to head of Red Bull Global but it is still unknown who will takeover the Technical Director position.
