Daka Scores Hat Trick in Salzburg Demolition

Red Bull Salzburg continued their dominance with a 6-0 win over TSV Hartberg where striker Patson Daka scored a hat trick to lead the way. The game, which saw Salzburg show their full array of scoring acumen, exposed the gulf in class between the league leaders and the rest of the table.

“It wasn’t easy but we made it look easy,” said Daka after the game. “Scoring three goals is very special, of course. I just had to do my backflip once even if Jesse doesn’t like seeing it.”

Salzburg had a three goal lead before the 15th minute mark with a goal from Enock Mwepu sandwiched between two of Daka’s three efforts. Hartberg was over-matched from the opening whistle and Marsch’s tactics kept his side on the front foot with a high-energy display. The efforts were so impressive that Hartberg didn’t register their first attempt at net until the 26th minute.

Daka finished his goal-scoring display in the 46th minute while fellow teammates Sekou Koita and Noah Okafor lined out the remaining goals in the six-goal rout. It was a complete team effort that now moves Salzburg seven points ahead of both Rapid Wien and RZ Pellets WAC at the top of the Championship Round.

“We made so many plans and did so much right,” said Okafor. “It’s like a dream that it worked out so well. I am really proud to have scored again too. Even if I know that me and the team are capable of getting even better.”

Next for Salzburg is trip to SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz. The opponents will be motivated to get points from Salzburg as they are just a point back of Hartberg for Europa League qualification. For Salzburg it is preparation before a big game against LASK next Sunday.
