One day after MLS and MLSPA agreed on a new CBA the USL Championship Board of Governors vote on a return to play model successfully passed on Thursday with a provisional start date of July 11th.
A statement released by the USL Championship outlined that the league’s return to play will be conducted in strict alignment with all local and state public health guidelines. There will be additional information on the format, scheduling, broadcast and other aspects in the coming weeks.
Although this is a positive step for the league as the USLPA said in there statement there is still work to be done between the league and the players association. Both sides will need to come together to agree on economic relief and return to play protocols.
There has been no report on what will happen with USL League One and USL League Two yet, but with USL Championship’s Board of Governors passing a return to play model on Thursday the hope is that League One and League Two will be able to resume as well.
