Timo Werner is a wanted man this summer as Inter have joined Liverpool in the race to sign him.
The Red Bull Leipzig striker has been a star in the Bundesliga this year with 24 goals across 28 appearances for his team.
Liverpool has been heavily linked to Werner over the past few months, but Inter have stepped up their efforts to sign the Leipzig star with the strong possibility of Lautaro Martinez leaving for Barcelona.
Inter have reportedly spoken to Werner’s agents and are eager to add the German along with Edison Cavani whom they plan to sign on free transfer from PSG.
The Nerazzurri have entertained the idea of offering Valentino Lazaro (currently on loan at Newcastle) to Leipzig as part of a deal for Werner instead of meeting the release clause.
However, Leipzig have said they will not offer any discounts on the German international and the release clause will have to be met. The release clause is €60 million if Leipzig were to win the league and €50 million if they do not.
Liverpool are said to have reservations on paying the release which has left the door open for Inter and potentially other teams to swoop in and land one of the top strikers in Europe this past year.
