Red Bull Leipzig will be without captain Yussuf Poulsen for part of if not all of the remaining Bundesliga season after he suffered a ligament injury on Sunday.
The club issued a statement on Monday saying that an MRI showed that Poulsen “suffered ligament damage to his right ankle during the game against Mainz 05” and that he would be sidelined until further notice.
Poulsen played a big part in Leipzig’s 5-0 win against Mainz 05 on Sunday scoring a goal and setting up two others. The victory saw Leipzig move up to third place behind leaders Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund who play each other on Tuesday.
With Poulsen sidelined for the future Czech Republic forward Patrik Schick could be set to partner in form Timo Werner up top for Wednesday’s match against Hertha Berlin.
