Rumors have begun to surface about a possible transfer for Red Bull Salzburg’s 19 year-old midfielder Dominik Szoboszali. The young Hungarian has made a name for himself at Salzburg, netting 9 goals and 13 assists in 50 games. Including a goal and an assist in Champions League this season.
The rumors, according to Corriere Dello Sport, have stated that Milan would be interested in acquiring the young midfielder only if some conditions are met. Most importantly, Milan are only interested in Szoboszali if former head of Red Bull Global Soccer Ralf Rangnick becomes the new manager. Rangnick has been publicly speaking about the move to Milan sparking responses from executives and former players.
The next condition would be that another player would need to be sold in order to fund the transfer. Milan’s preference would be to trade away Lucas Paqueta. The Brazilian came to the Italian giants last year for a €38 million. The club is ready to sell the midfielder at a loss, hoping to get anywhere from €25-28 million. That amount would surely be enough for Milan to buy Salzburg’s young midfielder.
There is another player linked with a move away from the Rossenari. Franck Kassié has been linked with a move to the premier league for the last year. Arsenal are top of the list for signing the Ivorian midfielder at the moment. The only thing stopping the move would be the price, as Arsenal have stated that they will not pay any more than €20 million. This may be enough for Milan to buy Szoboszali and it may make both moves happen.
Milan may see Szoboszali as the next talent to emerge from Salzburg. Since Erling Håland has taken Europe by storm. However, the stars may need to align for this trade to happen.
