New York Red Bulls Suspending 2020 Season Payments

In a newsletter today New York Red Bulls announced they were suspending all further payments for the 2020 season. Red Members have the ability to get a refund or use the payments towards the 2021 season at the same price of the 2020 season. See the full newsletter below.

Red Members today received information providing clarity in the event there are any cancelled or closed-door 2020 matches. In the event that matches are impacted, Red Members will have the option of electing to apply any payments from these matches towards their 2021 Red Membership. By doing this, Members will: Receive a bonus 10% ticket credit for all impacted matches towards their 2021 Red Membership Lock in their current Red Membership rate for 2021 Alternatively, if Members would like to discuss any other possible accommodations on tickets they have already purchased to 2020 impacted matches, including obtaining a refund, they should contact their Member Services Rep. At this time and until we receive further clarity on the 2020 season, we have also suspended further Red Membership ticket plan payments.

It’s clear that with the on-going COVID-19 crisis that there’s no real clear picture on when and if games will resume this season. Even if they do, MLS could take a page from Bundesliga and play their games behind closed doors.

There is speculation that MLS may elect to have a playoff styled tournament for the rest of the season in Orlando, but that still remains to be seen if it is true. Only time will tell what direction the league will take for the remaining games of the season.
