The 2020 Tokyo Olympics is over a year away, but due to the amount of teams in the region, CONCACAF will have Caribbean and Central American teams begin qualification matches next week to earn a spot.
Guatemala has called 21-year old defenseman Allen Yanes to the U-23 squad from New York Red Bulls II. No other USL players received call-ups.

Guatemala is one of six Central American teams to be drawn in home-and-away legs on July 19th and 21st. They will face U-23 Costa Rica in both matches. The aggregate winner will move onto the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship round.
Historically, this has taken place in October the year before the Olympics begin. However, this edition moves to March 2020. Three Central American teams and two Caribbean teams will join Mexico, Canada and the United States in this round. Only the top two will qualify for Tokyo 2020. The tournament will be July 23-August 8.
Yanes has earned three caps with the Guatemala senior side since his debut this past September. He also started in the U23 match against Qatar last month.
