Friday, FC Red Bull Salzburg kicked off their pre-season matches under new head coach Jesse Marsch. Salzburg’s reserve side took on Bavarian league side SV Kirchanschöring.
Salzburg came out on top, despite the squad rotation, showing off their dominate strength in a 3–0 victory.
Erling Håland opened the scoring in the 44th minute from the penalty spot. Sebastian Aigner a FC Liefering trialist, added a second in the 67th minute. Anderson Niangbo, another FC Liefering trialist, rounded out the scoring in the 73rd.
Jesse Marsch was exuberant about the win, and the start of his campaign
“Starting with a win is important, but we know there is still a lot to do,” said Marsch following the match. “We need to rehearse and train the processes intensively still. That is normal at this stage of pre-season, though. We were also missing a lot of players who will be with us again from next week.”
Salzburg’s next friendly is on July 3rd. They take on Bulgarian league club, PFC CSKA Sofia, and then face against Russian league club FC Arsenal Tula on July 6th.
