New York Red Bulls II will look to continue their great start to the season when they take on Loudoun United FC for the first time.
It will be the third game in seven days for the “baby bulls” who come into this game unbeaten to start the season. Despite a slow start against Hartford Athletic on Wednesday, NYRB II had a strong second half showing and won the game comfortably 4-0.
With it being a short week, manager John Wolyniec rotated his squad a bit for Wednesday’s game, but he said to expect a different lineup on Saturday.
” I would be surprised if it’s the same lineup,” Wolyniec said. “Definitely some changes. “Guys might have to do it again but we feel pretty good about the players we have in the first team, second team or even the academy. We feel confident in a lot of guys.”
Loudoun much like Hartford will come into the match on Saturday winless to open the year. The visitors have played all of their games on the road to start the season and have two draws and two losses.
Although Loudoun has only managed a single goal in their four games to start the year, they have managed to frustrate teams with their defensive play. They were able to earn a draw out of Tampa Bay and keep a clean sheet two weeks ago. In their four games this year they have only conceded once in the first half (last week against Ottawa Fury FC), so NYRB II will have to stay patient as they did on Wednesday.
With a tough test in Indy Eleven coming to MSU Soccer Park next weekend NYRB II will want to make sure they take full of advantage of their schedule early in the season.
