A great start to the start of the playoff season for Red Bull Salzburg. However, during the game itself things started off slow as both side fought for contention in the midfield, it would be Munas Dabbur who broke the deadlock at the 37th minute.
Right before the half, a penalty would award to Austria Wien, as Maximilian Sax buried it into the net equalizing the score line. Salzburg cam out a hungrier team in the second half as Dabbur finds an extra three goal, and Takumi Minamino added one himself.
Marco Rose was very happy with the team, and said “Winning the first match in the champions’ play-off makes us very pleased of course. The first-half wasn’t so clear-cut as the result would suggest. Austria Vienna had the odd chance or two, but we are very happy of course to have gone on to win 5-1.”
