Red Bull Global Soccer has added a new team to their network in Brazilian third division side Club Atletico Bragantino. The team announced the merger of Red Bull Brasil, currently in the fourth division, with the team and will gain immediate entry into the second division of Brazilian soccer.
“We believe we can move up through investment and technical capacity together,” said Red Bull Brasil CEO Thiago Scuro.
The move provides RB Leipzig, Red Bull Global’s biggest priority, with yet another staging ground for developing young talent. The system has paid dividends to the German Bundesliga club who has poached some of their network’s top talent to great success. Tyler Adams from New York Red Bulls and Amadou Haidara from Red Bull Salzburg are two examples and also appear to be the strategy moving forward.
“It is important for RB to ensure in the next few years that more players are developing in locations like New York or Brazil, who qualify as reinforcements to us,” said current RB Leipzig manager and Global Sporting Director Ralf Rangnick.
The previous club, Red Bull Brasil, started in 2007 but has not found the success of either of the European or North American teams have found. This merger gives them a boost with an infrastructure that could see them achieve the goals set out nearly a decade prior.
