New York Red Bulls II are set to acquire Red Bull Brasil striker Amarildo Aparecido de Souza Junior on loan for the 2019 season.
Originally, he travelled with NYRBII during the pre-season on trial. The striker played a total of three games scoring once. During his trial, he showed versatility, and pace.
After preseason, he, along with teammate Jhonatan da Silva travelled back to Sao Paulo, Brazil. However, according to sources close to the player, de Souza appears to be on his way back to the US.
His agent posted the following on Instagram:
TRANSLATION: …renewed for another 2 years with @artsports_management. And will go on loan for a season to @newyorkredbulls. Good luck, brother. You’re courageous.
The 20-year-old striker hasn’t seen much time on the pitch for Sao Paulo; cumulatively raking up 18 appearences total in the Junior league since 2016. During that time, de Souza scored 6 goals.
NYRBII declined to comment on the rumor.
