Marc Rzatkowski back training with New York Red Bulls

Marc Rzatkowski

After having his loan option declined by the Red Bulls in December, Marc Rzatkowski will travel to Florida for preseason camp.

The Red Bulls began their preseason training in Bradenton, FL today after a short week of training in Hanover, NJ. The announcement signals the likelihood of Rzatkowski rejoining the Red Bulls officially in some capacity.

Following that news, the club released an official list of the players attending preseason camp.

The German playmaker appeared in 27 matches last season where he scored twice and added 7 assists. Rzatkowski featured in multiple positions for Armas’ side including central defensive and attacking midfield, as well as right wing. Red Bull Salzburg loaned the midfielder to the Red Bulls last January and the stint produced excellent results.

The loss of Tyler Adams to RB Leipzig created a question of depth in central midfield heading into 2019. As a versatile player who can play multiple positions, Rzatkowski is also well versed in the system. If a deal can be reached, the Red Bulls will regain some much needed experience and continuity in the midfield.
