Ndam heads to FC Cincinnati in Expansion Draft

Hassan Ndam

The New York Red Bulls lost a valuable asset in the 2018 MLS Expansion Draft for FC Cincinnati Tuesday afternoon. FCC selected Hassan Ndam, the 20-year-old mainstay on the New York Red Bulls II backline, as the fifth and final pick in the draft.

Ndam joined the NYRBII in 2017 after a successful training stint in 2016. ‘Big Hass’ maintained a starting spot throughout his tenure with the USL side.

NYRBII reached back to back Eastern Conference finals thanks to a stout defense led by Ndam. His performance down the stretch in 2018 earned him a nomination for USL Young Player of the Year.

FCC got a first hand look at Ndam’s skill as the defender locked down Fanendo Adi during NYRBII’s semi-final win over his new club.

Sources indicated the move is final. The Red Bulls have no current plans to re-acquire the centerback.
