Red Bulls II Announce Off-Season Roster Decisions

New York Red Bulls II have announced who’s staying and who’s leaving following the conclusion of the 2018 USL regular season. The Eastern Conference finalists will see some familiar names staying and other options not being picked up. In the past, any decision to release a player hasn’t necessarily meant that they will no longer be with the team, just that if they return it will be under a different contract.

Red Bulls II Announce Off-Season Roster Decisions

Who is Staying:
Jordan Scarlett (defender)
Chris Lema (midfielder)
Jared Stroud (midfielder)
Amando Moreno (forward)
Tom Barlow (forward)

Who’s Option is Declined:
Scott Levene (goalkeeper)
Niko de Vera (defender)
Lucas Stauffer (defender)
Jose Aguinaga (midfielder)
Steven Echevarria (midfielder)

Who is Out of Contract:
Hector Lombard (defender)
Allen Yanes (defender)
Andrew Tinari (midfielder)

Expectations are that Andrew Tinari may end up joining the first team next season as he has had tremendous success with New York Red Bulls II over the past two campaigns. He has been versatile and at the very least could be loaned back down to the II team next season.

“For those that are moving on, we want to wish them long, successful careers,” said NYRB II head coach John Wolyniec. “I’ve enjoyed working with each of them and am looking forward to the 2019 season.”

It was New York Red Bull II’s fourth year in existence, having made the playoffs in every year in the USL. Next year will be the first in the USL Championship after the league has rebranded and the second as a division 2 club. They won the league’s title in 2016 and have been conference finalists the past two years. This year they ended the regular season with an 13-8-13 record after picking up steam late in the campaign.
