Born in Argentina, Kaku played for their U-20 team in 2015. After not receiving a call-up to the senior side in the past three years, he filed a one-time FIFA switch to Paraguay this past May. He received a call-up to his new national team the following window for his first and only cap to date on June 12th, featuring as a second half substitute against Japan.
Kaku looks to double his cap total for Paraguay in the friendly against South Africa on November 20th. Red Bulls fans will hope he doesn’t see the field as the Red Bulls enter the Eastern Conference Finals against Atlanta United.
The Red Bulls playmaker finished the MLS regular season with six goals and 14 assists and added another assist in last night’s playoff win over the Columbus Crew. Two of his regular season assists came in May’s 3-1 victory at Atlanta.
