For the first time all season a New York Red Bulls II player has won a USL Player of the Week award.
Tom Barlow’s second half hat trick helped NYRB II earn a crucial point on the road against Charleston Battery on Saturday.
Masked Man Tom Barlow Voted USL Player of the Week
NYRB II were down 3-0 when Barlow was subbed on in the 63rd minute and he made an immediate impact when he scored his first goal from the penalty spot a minute into his shift.
Barlow’s second goal came off a deflected cross and he was able to head the ball past the keeper to draw NYRB II level at 3. His third goal would come late in the game when his looping header found the back of the net.
Barlow has seen more minutes with Brian White’s call up to the first team and even though he didn’t start the game he made the most of his opportunity in a big game for NYRB II. With the three goals Barlow now has 6 on the year and could play a crucial part in the playoff race for NYRB II.
