RB Leipzig may be making one of their biggest moves as they are rumored to be courting Bayern Munich midfielder Sebastian Rudy. The 28-year old German international has been a part of the Bavarian giants for the last two seasons and is part of a larger effort to cut the roster size in Munich.
Bayern Munich Midfielder Rudy Rumored for Leipzig Move
The exclusive report comes for the Leipzig publication Sportbuzzer and detailed that Rudy visited the RB Leipzig training facility last Friday. The move would represent a shift in the team’s focus which has centered primarily on younger players under the age 24. Rudy is very much in his prime and looking for minutes that he will surely get at Leipzig. In many ways he would also replace recently departed midfielder Naby Keita talent-wise.
Rudy came up through the Stuttgart system from 2007 to 2010 before making the move to 1899 Hoffenheim. While there he made 195 appearances, scoring 11 goals. Last season he made 35 total appearances for Bayern Munich, mostly in the Bundesliga, scoring one goal over the course of the season.
RB Leipzig have spoken in recent months about the team not wanting to becoming a farm system for bigger European clubs. The signing of manager Julian Nagelsmann for next season and the potential move for Sebastian Rudy puts those words into action.
