RB Leipzig drew with BK Häcken in the second round of Europa League qualification on Thursday. The 1-1 draw with the Swedish side only exacerbated their 4-0 aggregate scoreline heading into the fixture, finishing off at 5-1.
RECAP: Leipzig advances in Europa League with Draw
Massimo Bruno was the goal-scorer for Leipzig when they took the lead in the 47th minute. The Belgian winger found himself at the top of the box just as a centering pass came from the wing. He took a strong shot, beating the Häcken keeper, giving the away side the lead and an away goal to go along with their commanding lead.
Leipzig seemed poised to win again but Häcken refused to let up on the pressure in front of their home fans. Their persistence was rewarded in the 85th minute when Alhassan Kamara whiffed on a shot on goal, allowing the ball to fall to the foot of Daleho Irandust. The Swede did not miss his opportunity and buried the ball past backup goalkeeper Marius Muller. It handed Häcken a bit of solace having avoided a loss at home, but their Europa League journey ends in the qualification round.
Next up for RB Leipzig is a qualification round against Romanian side CS Universitatea Craiova. That game will take place in Romania next Thursday.
